I moved in 3 days ago and found mould. Can I come out of the agreement?

Your answer

You don’t have an automatic right to end the agreement.  For example, there is no ‘cooling off’ period for tenancies.

If your landlord or agent mislead you about this, then you may have a right to ‘unwind’ the tenancy.  For example, if you specifically said to them “are there any damp or mould issues with this property” and they said “no”. 

Provided you are in a position to prove this – for example, if you have emails where they say specifically that there is no mould in the property.

Otherwise, if the mould is serious and the landlord is unwilling to do anything about it, you may be able to get help.  See our second article below.
