What is the legal maximum deposit that I have to pay?

In most cases, for properties in England, it will be illegal for your landlord to require you to pay a deposit of more than five times your weekly rent.
However, if your annual rent is over £50,000 per year, your landlord can ask for a deposit of up to six weeks worth of rent.
