Check Your Occupation Type
Question 2:
Do you pay rent AND do you have ‘exclusive occupation’ of the property?
‘Exclusive occupation’ means that you are legally entitled to keep everyone out of your house, flat or room (including the landlord).
So this will not be the case, for example, if you share your room with someone on a separate agreement, for example, if you live in a hostel with a shared dormitory.
In most cases, if you have signed an agreement to rent a property, you will have ‘exclusive occupation’.
Click the ‘yes’ button if you are sure you have exclusive occupation, or click the ‘no’ button if this is not the case, or if you want to find out more.
