Rent Repayment Orders are becoming increasingly popular as they become better known among tenants.

They are claims brought in the First Tier Tribunal by tenants claiming a refund of rent paid by them when their landlord was in breach of certain areas of the law.

We invited housing barrister Brooke Lyne of Landmark Chambers in London to explain them to us:

Brooke also provided a presentation which may be useful to you, which you can find here.  We have an article on HMOs here.

There is a YouTube interview with one of the barristers in the Rakusen case here.

If you are considering bringing a claim for a Rent Repayment Order, you should ideally obtain some legal advice first.

One good way is to book a telephone advice call with one of our panel solicitors.  This will cost you £115.  Find out more about this below.

Alternatively, you may be able to find someone to help via our Further Advice Services article here.
